Firefighter/EMT Loses Everything in House Fire While On Another Call

Richard Crossman, an EMT and Firefighter living in Kingsley, Michigan, was on a call in the back of an ambulance July 1st when he found out that his own house was on fire.

“I was in the back of an ambulance doing an ambulance call and they know I don't answer the phone and then all of the sudden my phone starts blowing up and the paramedic came on board she said, ‘You hear what's happening up on 4 road?’ Then I look at my phone because I am responding, and I'm like, ‘Hey that's my address.’"

Crossman finished the call and got to his home to find his colleagues from the Buckley Fire Department battling the blaze. No one in the family of five was injured in the fire, but they lost two pets and much of everything they owned. The house was a rental, and the family did not have rental insurance.

Richard Crossman is a Firefighter with the Buckley Fire Department and an EMT with the Mesick Rescue Squad. Crossman’s EMT and Firefighting colleagues continue to provide their support, and a GoFundMe page has been set up for Crossman’s family.
